I'll make this one post to clarify things a bit so people don't get the wrong idea -
After one hell of a lot of talking with my team captian and pilots today, I gave the go-ahead to have our team withdraw from the tourney.
If you spend some time reading this forum you will see a lot of people spending more time talking about points and crooked GMs than the actual matches. Instead of sportsmanship and people wishing each other well, itÆs just turned into something else. One of my pilots said this to me earlier today:
"Gah... Eve-TV forum is CAOD part 2!"
Seriously, what's up with all the anger in here, people?
ItÆs not the new format; we love it. ItÆs the players who canÆt for one second seem to cut the organizers a break. All the work CCP has put into this, and nothing is good enough? The OMG CHEATERS bandwagon is getting tired.
There is also the fact that the game we play has a dedicated TV show, yet a vocal minority of people spend more time telling them how ****ty it is than thanking them for something truly unique and awesome in the industry!
We extend our sincere apologies to those who wished to fight us. This isn't about the trolls 'getting thier way' either. Are we fed up with some of the smack? Hell, yes, who wouldn't be? Overall though, having been through two previous tournaments, the ôfeelö of this one just didn't grab my guys and gals.
We don't expect everyone to be happy about this; we expect some of you to probably be plain mad. I am sorry if you feel that way, but this sentiment has been building for a couple days now among the people who have put the most effort into organizing our teams. I couldn't ignore that or them.
I never thought I'd say this but... I'm really disappointed with you guys for that decision.
No-one is getting cut any slack here. Not by commentators, not by the viewers. I've even had friends telling me all weekend in private that I'm utter ****. Verbatim. So what? There are a lot of explanations and excuses I could've given for Enelaise's poor performance so far. It doesn't matter. Here is the official word on why Enelaise's performance has been so bad: I messed up bad.
True sportsmanship, Seleene, is not patting the guy you just crushed on the back and tell him he did his best. True sportsmanship is facing adversity as best you can and playing on, no fuss, no comments. Even with crooked refs, juiced up adversaries, screaming fans, unfair commentators.
So you guys screweud up a little, and people blew it out of proportions. You're not alone in having made mistakes in this tourney, especially when it comes to the teams and the /tr trash. Seriously think about this Seleene. Compete in your last rounds. Even if it's just t1-fit battleships with smartbombs or whatever.
Dropping out is weak. It means you couldn't take the heat, your skin wasn't thick enough. It means that all the talk got to you in the end. I see you as a friend, mate, and I don't want to see you making this decision. ----
